The Dance Party — a world guide
Lights down, bass up — the Dance Party is the one corner of Catchmemeow where we turn the lights off on purpose. There is no sky here at all, just a glowing dance floor in a dark room, with color-shifting lasers sweeping overhead and roaming spotlights that slide across the crowd like they are looking for somebody too. Every cat in the place is grooving, and none of them show any sign of stopping.
That is exactly what makes this world genuinely tricky. Your special pet is not standing politely still; it is dancing along with everyone else, and the light keeps changing its mind about what color everything is. A spotlight sweeps past, you catch a glimpse of the right face, and then the floor goes dim again. Happily, Catchmemeow cannot be lost — the game is free, there are no accounts, and progress saves right on your device — so a tricky world just means the song plays a little longer.
What to look for in the Dance Party
Other worlds hide their treasures in trees and behind rocks. The Dance Party hides celebrities. Somewhere out on that glowing floor is a secret VIP guest list of pop-star cats, and every one of them is worth a tap when you spot them:
- Meowdonna — pop royalty; her name goes at the very top of any guest list.
- Lady Gagapaws — a cat who was clearly born for the spotlight.
- Elvis Purrsley — the King is in the building, for once.
- Michael Jackpaw — look for him wherever the grooving is smoothest.
- Freddie Purrcury — a showstopper hiding inside a whole room of show.
- Fifi La Boa — a slinky Siamese draped in feathers, which is exactly the kind of detail a roaming spotlight was made to catch.
And the usual world-wandering visitors — Cameow Sandiego, Schrödinger's Kit, Penny the Pug, and Mika — have been known to crash a party now and then, so keep half an eye out between songs.
Tips for grown-ups
- This is a dark world, so play it somewhere a bright window will not fight the screen — a couch cave works wonders.
- Follow one roaming spotlight together and name whatever it lands on: a cat, a color, a famous face.
- The lasers shift color constantly, which makes this the best world in the game for practicing color words — call them out as they change.
- Try a round of freeze dance: wiggle while you search, freeze when somebody spots a VIP. The game never rushes you, so a dance break costs nothing.
One more thing…
Real cats will chase a single laser-pointer dot until everyone involved is exhausted, so a whole room of color-shifting lasers is less a party gimmick than the only nightclub cats would ever actually attend.
